History

For the past two decades, the City of Vaughan has been one of the fastest growing municipalities in Canada. The city is unique in that it is the only municipality of its size and growth potential that does not have a major health care facility within its boundaries. All of the health care facilities currently serving Vaughan residents will be facing the challenge of meeting the needs of residents of their host municipalities. This raises the prospect of diminished levels of service for Vaughan residents in the future. The lack of a local health care facility has, over the years, developed into an important community concern.

On January 27, 2003 Vaughan City Council took the first step toward establishing a health care facility in the city by creating the Health Care Facility Study Task Force to oversee the development of a Needs Assessment, Vision and Implementation Plan for a new facility.
